Anglický článek B1: What does it take to be a parent?

childrenWell, we all definitely know some parents, maybe we ourselves are ones. Being a parent is an essential thing that enters our lives one day without asking us for allowance. It comes out of nowhere and here it is. It requires a lot of attention, energy and what´s the most important – positivity and leadership.

Every parent loves their child, regardless the gender, age, colour of hair or length at birth. Our children are our treasures, but the life with them is not so easy, right? Well, at first the baby is born, which is definitely a breathtaking event for both the mother and the father. Then, after a few days at the maternity hospital we take our newborn home and the process of adaptation can start. Mostly, newborns are breast-fed, which is the best for them. They aren´t that active and know just a few activities, such as sleeping, eating, making poos and peeing. This time isn´t very attractive for fathers, who mostly start to be interested when the child shows signs of unxpected movements or starts to gurgle. The first words (mama, tata) are definitely always appreciated and generally all the „firsts“ are never missed – the first tooth, the first step, the first … 😊

Well, after this cute period, the real life of a parent takes place – we have to bring our children up, advise them, support them, tell them off, show them how they should behave and, what I find the most important, to be a good example for them. They watch us closely, even though they don´t comment on everything they see, but they do understand what and how we do. We ourselves should lead our lives the best possible way, be happy about our jobs, confident about ourselves, satisfied with the results of our activities – our children will probably follow this pattern. That´s why it is so important to start with ourselves when we want to tell them about how to live.

(Pomocníček: an allowance = povolení, „out of nowhere“ = jako blesk z čistého nebe, regardless = nehledě na, to gurgle = pobrukovat si, to tell sb. off = vynadat někomu)

Hi! This is again perfect article for education. I found a few new phrases.
to gurgle …mean to try talk, it is not right yet, but the first attempts, the own „language“, water can also speak this way
to pee…result of metabolic exchange – small childern do that into napkins, we have to go to the toalete, the more we drink, the more we have to pee
a pattern … it is usually some motiv on the material, I know pattend steel plates (anti-sliding) or different patterns on dress
    to bring up …
a maternity hospital …hospital, where are handled pregnant women and newborns

Such baby tries to walk itselfs or managed that already. Some babies already talk a bit, at least the first words. They are very curious and need to feel everything in their small hands. They are interested in everything what they can see or hear.
Write at least seven activities that every parent has to do for their children.
    – to love
    – to help
    – to support
    – to explain
    – to be a partner always when they need
    – to be a good example
    – to be happy
Why is it so important to be a good example for our children? Because they watch us and listen us always. They absorb everything what is happening around them.

I am mother of two kids. Today they are already teenagers. Terrible, how the time goes fast. My son is two years older than my daughter. They are totally different in their characters. Honza is steady, sensitive, little bit lazy and has a good sense of humor. Terka is very dynamic, forcefull and when she is not satisfied, everybody knows about that. It is not easy sometimes to keep calm and try solve the critical situations without screaming. Kids are training how to be more patient. Last time they spend more and more time with their frends and I love the moments, when we are together and happy
